Stitch & Bitch
Remember the days when crafting was considered a primo pastime for scrapbooking old maids and homebodies fond of stitching sweaters adorned with yarn-chasing cats? It looks like those days are over, as Williamsburg’s Southside Speakeasy is bringing crafting back in a big, bad-ass way with their new weekly Stitch & Bitch happy hour each Wednesday.
Clear from the name, the event encourages modern crafters to bring their various projects to work on while drinking copious amounts of discounted booze and talking copious amounts of trash about anything. Whether it’s beading, collaging, crocheting or quilting you’re in to, why not do it while scoring cheap PBR tallboys, Jameson shots and hot toddies while dishing enough dirt to rival a sorority sister?
As the bar says, “bring your crafts, bring your gossip and bring your fine-assed self.” Sounds like a coffee klatch for a new, wayward generation.
It’s about time lanyard enthusiasts had a place to chill, anyway.
