Rilo Kiley / Terminal 5
Rhapsody in blue
June 2, 2008
Jenny Lewis may be every indie fanboy's wet dream, but the potty mouthed singer is getting more mainstream by the minute. After the success of her solo album, Rilo Kiley was well-positioned for its major-label bow, "Under the Blacklight," and despite some critical hiccups—not everyone loved the slick-'n'-sleazy disco vibe that kept popping up—the album was well-received overall. And for good reason: Tracks like "Breakin' Up" and "Silver Lining" are just as deliciously hooky as old faves like "Portions for Foxes" (okay, almost as hooky).
